Pastor John and Christy Stewart

 

Pastor John and his wife Christy moved to Napanee and began their ministry here in the spring of 2012. Prior to this, they lived in Alberta where they raised their three children: Jake, Josh, and Amy. John grew up in Scarborough, Ontario but in the 1970's, as a young man, he moved to Alberta to find work. Shortly after his arrival, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and his life changed in many different ways. During this time, he met and married Christy who had grown up on a farm near Edmonton and was a good friend of John's sister. As time went on, John went back to university and became a school teacher, teaching at both the elementary and high school levels.

 

In the early 1990's, John attended seminary, and his first pastoral ministry after graduating was in a small town near the area where Christy had been raised. This ministry involved planting a new Baptist church and establishing a congregation from the beginning stages. Following nine years of ministry in that location, John and Christy, along with their family, moved to South Korea and were involved in a teaching capacity for two years. As a result of these varied experiences, John and Christy come to Napanee Baptist with a well-rounded outlook on life and a deep love for God and his people. Their desire is to see Napanee Baptist Church grow and to see it have a definite impact on the community as they share the good news of Jesus with those around them.
